Our Story

Rooted in tradition.
Focused on you.

Since the 1950's, Jack Ranch Cafe has been more than just a place to eat – it's been a place to gather, connect, and feel at home.

From our early days to today, our mission has remained the same — serve good food, treat people right, and give back to our community.

We take pride in our homestyle cooking, friendly service, and old-fashioned hospitality.

Behind the counter

The same faces,
most mornings

There is no shift change theatre here. The person who takes your order is usually the one who plates it, and the one who remembers you take it black.

Some of the crew grew up down the road. Some pulled in for breakfast years ago and never really left. Between them they have poured more coffee than the highway has carried cars.

  • Everything is cooked to order – nothing sits under a lamp.
  • Pies are baked in-house, most mornings before opening.
  • Ask about the memorial – someone here knows the story.

Four stops along the way

  1. The 1950's

A cafe opens where Highway 46 bends, feeding ranch hands, wool haulers and anyone else the road brings past.

  2. September 30, 1955

Late afternoon at the Cholame Y, a mile from the door. Twelve seconds that the road has never let go of.

  3. The memorial

A monument goes up across the lot. Travellers start planning the stop rather than stumbling into it.

  4. Today

Same room. Same counter. Breakfast from six, a market next door, and the memorial a few steps away.
